Mr. Merhige began his real estate career in 1982. He formed the pre-cursor to The Shockoe Company in 1986. Merhige was a pioneer in urban redevelopment, creating some of the first warehouse lofts in Shockoe Slip.
He has been involved in the development of over $30 million of mixed use and apartment projects. He owns and manages many of these properties which include apartments, restaurants, retail and commercial space.
